Found these at our local thrift store yesterday...mis-matched but in displayable condition. Both dated 1943 and one is size 12, the other 13.

These things look so darned uncomfortable. Hard to imagine how anyone could exercise in them. I remember my Grampa had a pair of these around back when I was an ankle-biter...wonder where they went? hmmm

I found another pair of these at a local surplus store...he is asking $70 for them. Is that a fair price for a matched pair? They are not mint, they have been lightly worn.

    Hi Dale,
I think $70 is high, but I may be wrong. I think there was a pair for sale at the Etobicoke show for $40, but then again there was a pair for sale on a dealers website for over $100...so maybe $70 is good. I guess it depends on how bad you want them.LOL!

Ya, these seldom seen items are hard to place a value on because there is no "going rate" to compare to. You just have to go by gut and think how desireable and rare is the item and how badly do you want it. If you want the shoes to complete a display then it may be worth the asking price otherwise you take your chances that it may be a loooong time before you find another pair. Then again, someone may read this thread and offer you a pair tomorrow.... the fun of collecting.

For what it's worth, I have seen these shoes for sale numerous times over the last 20 years of collecting and they normally don't sell quickly as the demand is not high.
