    7. BIRTHPLACE: CARLETON PLACE, ONTARIO
    8. HEIGHT: 5' 10 1/2", WEIGHT: 159
    9. TRADE OR CALLING: FARMER
    10. RELIGION: CHURCH OF ENGLAND
    11. NOK - MOTHER, MRS. JAMES DOHERTY, CARLETON PLACE, ONT.
    12. MARITAL STATUS: SINGLE
    13. DISCHARGED: March 8th, 1901
    11. LETTER FROM DOHERTY IN NATIONAL ARCHIVES DATED AUGUST 4th, 1902 STATING THAT HE HAD NOT YET REC'D THE BARS FOR HIS MEDAL.

    15. NUMBER 3 TROOP, A. SQUADRON, MAY 18th, 1900 - TO C SQUADRON, July 8th, 1900 - TO B SQUADRON, December 28th, 1900 - BACK TO A SQUADRON.
    16. WRITTEN ON REVERSE OF PICTURE (Possibly written by member of family): Private George Doherty in the uniform he wore when he served in Strathcona's Regiment in Queen Victoria's Reign. Born April 1st, 1874. He was known as a crack shot and a fantastic horseman. He enlisted from Elkhorn, Manitoba, Canada where he was homesteading in a sod shack he built himself.

    Nicely done. The presentation really adds to the medal. A medal can be a bit boring, but with the additional material it creates depth to the story.
