List of men in RHLI at Dieppe

Hello Gents

Just wanted to ask if there was a reference list of names for the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry at Dieppe, I have an M L Hodge who was supposed to have been in the regiment and landed at Dieppe. It was from a name tag in a regular Canadian mk2 helmet and the seller claimed the above, I got it from a third person who passed on the details

I did do a quick google search (ahh my reference is lacking) and I can see how the story could have come about.

So hence I just wanted to double check, if anyone had a proper source

Where did you find the list? I am curious about a list for men of the Royal Regiment of Canada who were at Dieppe. I have their history book but it lacks this information. I the medals to a man who joined the Regiment in 1939, Served with them until wounded in 1944 sometime. His records do not indicate that he was present at Dieppe.

I was looking at the RHLI website and there is a roll there, if I am not mistaken this was the list of men who landed

Don't know about the Royal Regiment, curious though.

Did you get his records from the LAC in Ottawa, you would think it would indicate the landing if he did, but I have not seen one personally so don't know

Hi John, yes I do have his service file from the LAC, noting to indicate he was at Dieppe. Odd as he was certainly with the Regiment. I can only assume he was LOB for one reason or another.

Once I get it all sorted out, I will post his details and such in the section of those who served.
