Identification Assistance Please

Hi!  I'm hoping I've come to the right place.  I found this white silk parachute buried at the bottom of my father's hope chest.  I believe it was his father's, but I'm not certain.  It seems the chute was deployed, and the only marking I can find on it is the picture I have taken.  A basic google search turns up nothing and I don't even know where to start looking.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

What diameter is the chute and what does the container it came in look like?
