Unusual frog

Here is an unusual frog, the markings are not standard, the C arrow is a little off.

The strange part is that the frog has two slits for the bayonet stud, the usual large slit for the bayonet scabbard stud, then a smaller slit. Anyone know what this extra slit is for?

Crack open your copy of "37 Web" which was published in 2003 by Serivce Publications, the explaination is in there.

Little hint, sword to spike.

They are not that strange actually, I have more of this variation than the earlier sword bayonet only variation.

I would open up my copy of the Ed mentioned, but it is packed away somewhere, along with many of my other reference books I have yet to locate.

As already mentioned above, this style is quite common. The smaller slit is for the placement of the button of the spike bayonet stud which is smaller. As for the C/l\ it does look rather odd.
