Canadian US M1 helmet ???? Empty Post WWII US M1 with Type I Liner

Nice helmet, looks like there is evidence of UN blue under the white. Near impossible to tell who used it as anyone could have painted it white, during or after its military use. I would not repaint it in the hope that someday some information would turn up. Put a woodland camouflage cover over it and display as a 1980s-90s M1 until more information becomes available.

Hello, having shown the helmet has a old military Canadian he tells me that this helmet painted in white, has this period it not existed for canadian army.
    It is probably civil use.
Thus I am going to remove the white paint to put backit to the blue UN

Canadian US M1 helmet ???? Empty Your M1 Helmet

I would not repaint it. Just because someone who was in the military tells you that white is not a correct colour may be wrong. Does this person you have asked actually do any research or study into kit; most of the guys I know in the military have no clue about any of the kit and vaguely know anything about the stuff that they were issued. It is now your helmet, do with it as you please, but you may regret painting over it in the future.

Yes I understands, but this serviceman also collect helmets and uniforms.
He has one impose collection and knows well this domain.

You create a doubt in my head loll, I am going to wait before making the irreparable.

Good advice from Ed, it's a smart move to wait before removing any paint.

As you don't know exactly why it's painted that way it could be more valuable as is.
There is the US Militaria Forum as well which may be able to identify the paint job and markings because to me the helmet looks US for some reason (possibly Navy).

UN blue helmets are not all that uncommon, so if that is what you are after just keep looking and one will come up.

(Most) Probably just a coincidence but "128 Air Defence Battery" was stationed at CFB Baden-Soellingen in the 70/80's. They wore M1 helmets then. Just saying.

Comme je disais, ce n'est probablement rien d'autre qu'une coincidence mais si tu veux verifier, va ici:

Like I said, this is probably just a coincidence but...
