WW1 43rd Bn 7 button tunic and cap Empty WW1 43rd Bn 7 button tunic and cap

Thought I would post a couple of pictures of the newest additions to my collection - a WW1 Canadian-made 7 button tunic and matching  tam o'shanter to the 43rd Battalion.  Both are in absolutely fantastic condition for their age (just slight mothing) and 100% original.  The tunic has a 1917 date stamp on the inside of the collar as well as its original collar badges and formation patches.   The cap has its original 43rd battalion badge and tartan backing and a nice clear WD stamp and 1918 date inside.  This is my first CEF tunic and cap and a beautiful addition to my collection!  I had to trade a lot of WW2 stuff to get it, but it was well worth it.

The belt was a separate pickup.  It is a 1908 pattern web belt, nicely blancoed and with the WD markings inside.  Date is a little tough to make out, but looks like either 1916 or 1918.

The kilt has been in my collection for a number of years.  It is named to Pte James Glen of Winnipeg, who served with the 43rd Battalion and was killed in 1917 at Lens at the age of 21.  He is buried in Loos British Cemetery.  My family and I paid a visit to his gravesite earlier this summer while touring the battlefields in France and Flanders.  The tunic and cap are a perfect match for the kilt and display very nicely - a great way to honour Pte Glen and all of the members of the 43rd Battalion who fought in the Great War.
