Canadian Victorian Uniforms Empty Canadian Victorian Uniforms

Post by servicepub Wed Feb 20, 2013 6:41 pm

I have a number of projects coming up, one of which is a two-volume work by noted Canadian uniformologst Rene Chartrand, on the uniforms of Queen Victoria's Canadian Militia.

If you have one or more of these items, as well as belt buckles, cross-belts, etc.., please consider sending me a photo for possible inclusion. No professional skills are required. What I find best is to lay a white sheet on the floor, Button up the tunic, stand over the uniform (at a slight angle so that no shadow is cast on the item) and send me the pic. Include your name and any known details of the item.

    Thnx,

    Clive

Note - I also welcome photos of other eras, for other projects.

    Hi Clive !

I thought that I would find you here ! As you know, we have very few uniforms Pre WWI but we do have an Officer's 54th Carabiniers de Sherbrooke (complete with crossbelt) uniform and a 53rd Sherbrooke Regiment Officer's tunic as well. The 54th is circa 1910 and the 53rd is circa late XIX. If you're interested, let me know.

    Cheers

    Salut SP

I remember the uniforms well and photographed them in the cabinets. Unfrtunately the lighting wasn't very good so the photos cannot be used.
If you get a chance could you take the uiforms off the mannequins, lay them on a white sheet and photgraph them for me? Instructions are in my first post (above). If possible the sleeves should be arranged close to the body so no light shows through.

    Cheers,
    Clive
