    MkII helmets Empty MkII helmets

Post by Wouter Sun Nov 20, 2011 9:23 am

Lastly I have these 2 MkII helmets that I will have to let go.
First one is a Canadian Lamp Company made one, from 1942. Liner is clearly marked 7 3/4 VMC I 1941. Helmet is in nearly mint state. I added the net and the scrim. Not too sure about the screw.

Second is a General Steel Wares one, made in 1942. Has a net and a Canadian made (Johnson & Johnson 1943) dressing under the net. Net looks like it has been on there for quite a while.
Liner marked 7 1/8 but in a difficult place.

Question is what a fair price for these helmets is.
    Thanks

Prices seem to be all over the4 place lately. I use to watch ebay sales but they are even worse. I would estimate anywhere from $75 to $100 seems to be the norm. Yours have nice nets so the price could even go higher.

Sometimes I judge prices by watching some certain dealer sites...one in particular has very high prices so I half them to value some of my stuff.

With nets I've seen them go for $100 at auction. Seen them sit for years at antiques stores for $150. Ebay is not a good source for pricing, I see something sell for crazy bucks so I list the same item and it sells for peanuts, just depends on whose bidding that day and how bad they want it.

I think in Holland they would do about 75 euro each.Maybe the one with the shell dressing a bit more,'cause they are scarce in Holland.
But it depends on the market,I sold a nice used one(without any netting) for 65 euro's a few months ago.

I've sold them with nets for around the $125 mark in Canada. But usually $100 is a good ballpark.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the info. Anyone have a clue what a complete set of ´37 web goes for nowadays? It's got a British belt and e-tool, the rest is all Canadian. It includes a smallpack and everything is wartime dated and stamped (No 1945 items). Just a rough estimate would be great to start with. I'll have to make some pictures sometime to get it more accurate I guess.
